Whether you wish to lose weight for a short term goal such as a forthcoming
holiday, wedding or other important social occasion; or you need help
with yo-yo dieting, 'comfort eating' or general over-eating; or you
need help with an eating disorder such as anorexia or bulimia, hypnosis
and hypnotherapy can help you. I have successfully treated a variety
of eating disorders/problems with food at my practice just outside of
battle, East Sussex and covering Hastings, Rye, Bexhill and the surrounding
areas of East Sussex and Kent.
Experience
shows that dieting is rarely successful because by its very nature you
are forced to think about the one thing that you are trying to avoid
having thoughts about ----FOOD. All those thoughts about calorie-counting,
what food is 'good' and what food is 'bad' for you, what time of day
is best to eat, what do you eat with what, denying yourself certain
foods so you end up wanting them even more....the list is endless. It's
no wonder that you end up feeling guilty and miserable, so ditching
the diet after a while and returning to your previous eating patterns,
and then feeling dejected and hopeless as you watch the pounds pile
back on.
The
only way to control your weight is for you to permanently change your
attitude towards food and your eating 'habits'; only then will you be
able to lose weight and keep it off. Hypnotherapy works on a subconscious
level to help you to achieve the correct state of mind to enable you
to do this.
I
offer two different types of hypnotherapy which will help you to to
resolve your problems and achieve your goal: Suggestion
Therapy and 'Pure' Hypnoanlaysis.
Suggestion
Therapy works very well for short-term weight loss
such as prior to a holiday or a special event such as a wedding. It
may also be used to reinforce a decision to opt for healthier eating
habits. This method is really only suitable for those who have about
a stone or two at most to lose.
However, unlike smoking, say, which is a habit and can be easily stopped
by using suggestion therapy in just one Easy Smoking
Cessation session, eating is actually NOT a 'habit'
as you need to eat in order to survive - nutrition is a basic need.
So, for people who are very overweight and/or for long-term changes
to your weight and your eating patterns, we would need to uncover the
underlying cause for your problems with food, whether that involves
comfort eating, over-eating, binge eating, yo-yo dieting or something
similar.
Comfort
eating, over-eating, binge eating and similar are all coping mechanisms
or "self medication" methods which people use because they
have an underlying feeling of, (for example), anxiety, worthlessness,
unhappiness, being out of control, being unable to cope with life and
so on - you are not just feeding your body you are feeding your emotions
too. In addition, all problems with food are exacerbated by anxiety
and stress so if we can relieve the underlying anxiety and/or stress,
for example, it makes sense that the food problem will also be relieved.

A course of 'Pure' Hypnoanalysis would
be needed in order to uncover the underlying cause(s) of any problem
with food. The type of therapy which is best suited to your needs can
