Changing Limiting Beliefs ~ Helping M.E., Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Post Viral Fatigue Syndrome and many other issues at 1066 Hypnotherapy
covering East Sussex, Battle, Hastings, Bexhill, Rye, Heathfield, Hailsham, Eastbourne, Crowborough, Tunbridge Wells, Tonbridge, Ashford and Kent.

If you are suffering from ME (myalgic encephalopathy), CFS (chronic fatigue syndrome), PVFS (post viral fatigue syndrome), fibromyalgia, chronic depression, anorexia, OCD, obsessions or any other debilitating condition or problem, you may well feel that there isn't much hope for you getting better any time soon but help is at hand. I am increasingly being asked for help with these sorts of problems at my practice just outside of Battle, East Sussex and covering Hastings, Rye, Bexhill, Heathfield, Hailsham, Eastbourne, Crowborough, Tunbridge Wells, Tonbridge, Ashford and the surrounding areas of East Sussex and Kent.

In the case of ME, CFS or PVFS in particular the following is a fairly common pattern:

  • You fell ill with a virus or bacterial disease. Your immune system was already compromised/stressed somehow (or you wouldn't have fallen ill in the first place) and the illness only weakened you and your immune system further;
  • Consequently, you felt ill, weak and tired and your physical symptoms were very strong or lasted a long time (or both), so much so that you began to think you might not ever get better. The doctors that you saw had no real answers for you and you continued to feel unwell...........and then you naturally started to worry about your long-term health;
  • So now you have these extra worries to contend with along with being ill, which only serves to make things worse, making doubly sure that there's not much chance of a recovery anytime soon. This is because the added stress you are under, from worrying about your health, results in more adrenaline and cortisol (the main stress hormones) being released. This is physically exhausting when this happens over a long period of time and the stress hormones further weaken your immune system which keeps you susceptible to further illness and to feeling weak and tired.

As a result you are in a constant cycle of - a weakened immune system = susceptibility to illness = getting ill = feeling weak + fatigued = weakened immune system etc

Now, there's not much that I can do about your original physical illness* (see below for important note) but research has shown that the majority of sufferers of ME, CFS, PVFS together with people with certain other conditions/problems including fibromyalgia, chronic depression, OCD, obsessions and anorexia often tend to be, understandably, prone to negative thinking and have very often developed what we term "self-limiting belief systems". This is not their fault though as they've never been taught anything about belief systems or how to properly 'manage' these thoughts.

So what is a Limiting Belief System?
Put simply, a limiting belief is any thought or belief you have about yourself or your life that isn't conducive to you having a happy, healthy, successful and prosperous life. To go further, a limiting belief system is a set of personal beliefs and thoughts which can have a very negative and damaging effect on your life. Whilst the formation of these negative thoughts and self-limiting belief systems post-illness is understandable, (given the problems you can have with debilitating conditions such as ME and CFS for example), unfortunately these particular thought patterns and beliefs, once formed, can have a huge additional impact on your life alongside your illness - it is this aspect which I can help you with.

The keys to the success of this amazing program lie in you understanding your own negative thoughts and limiting belief systems, the causes behind them AND in more fully understanding your own character and personality and the particular aspects of these which are currently working against you. When you can understand not only your own character and personality but also where these beliefs come from and how they affect you and your life, it's quite simple for you to learn how to change them, manage them and regain control of them.

Once you have learned how to regain control of your negative thoughts and how to change your limiting belief systems, you will greatly reduce the additional stress you are under and you will find that, as a result, your individual physical symptoms of ME, CFS or PVFS or OCD or depression (for example) will be greatly helped and alleviated - you will be better able to break the 'cycle' you are in and start getting back to living your life.

Changing Limiting Belief Systems using the Rob Kelly Technique™ is a "brain training" programme which has been developed over the last 20 years and has helped thousands of people to completely change the way they think and feel about themselves and has helped them to, for instance, recover from ME or CFS or PVFS, overcome chronic depression, overcome anorexia, OCD, obsessions, fibromyalgia and much more - a short, adapted version is even included in the Stop Smoking Easily session.

Changing Limiting Belief Systems is a six session training programme that will help you to:

  • Understand how limiting and negative thoughts and belief systems are formed;
  • Recognise your own limiting, negative and damaging thoughts and belief systems;
  • Recognise your individual character and personality traits and which of these are likely to be making things more difficult for you than they need be;
  • Understand how, using the special techniques taught to you, you can turn your thoughts into something working for you rather than against you, as they probably are now
  • and much more.

In fact, for some simpler problems you may need less than six sessions.

A shortened version of this special training programme is also excellent for some people with anxiety, fears and phobias who wish to regain some control of their life but who are unsuitable (for various reasons) to undergo a course of 'Pure' Hypnoanalysis which is the usual course of action for the vast majority of people seeking help for these types of problems.

Everybody is assessed on an individual basis during a free initial consultation when we will discuss the various options available to you and decide what is the best way forward for you.

If you enrol in this training programme you will become a "student" or "trainee" - you will not be a "client" as such, as this is not therapy: this is a training programme.

You can be forgiven for possibly being a bit sceptical about this training programme, probably because you have already tried many things in an effort to help yourself but none of them have worked for you. However, all you need to do with this training programme is to maintain an open mind at all times throughout the training and then solidly and consistently apply the special techniques as taught to you and the results will speak for themselves. In any event, we will never proceed from one stage of the programme to the next unless you have fully understood the previous stage and how it applies to you, so there is no obligation to continue with the full programme at any time.

Each weekly session lasts about 90 minutes and costs just £70.00 per session. There is an additional cost on the first session of £20.00 for a comprehensive and detailed workbook written by Rob Kelly which fully explains the Changing Limiting Beliefs programme and includes weekly exercises for you to complete between sessions.

* Important note - It is a little known fact that Coeliac Disease is commonly misdiagnosed as ME or CFS: ME and CFS are the 10th most common misdiagnoses for Coeliac Disease. Coeliac Disease often follows a period of stress/illness and its symptoms are very similar to ME and CFS but it can be healed in most people by adopting a gluten-free diet and reducing your stress. Even if you cannot obtain a specific diagnosis of Coeliac Disease (as it is still not a 'popular' diagnosis amongst conventional doctors) it may well be worth you considering a gluten-free diet for several weeks to see if you experience any change in your symptoms. More information may be obtained on the Coeliac UK site.
