What is hypnosis?

As previously stated, a good description of hypnosis is "A state of relaxation and concentration at one with a state of heightened awareness induced by suggestion".
back to questions

Does it matter if I don't feel like I'm 'under'?

There is in fact no such thing as a ‘hypnotised feeling’ but you will be feeling pleasantly relaxed and listening to my voice and this is all that is needed - the results will generally speak for themselves. back to questions

Will I be asleep?

No, but you will be in a very pleasant relaxed state.
back to questions

Will I still be in control?

Yes, you will maintain control at all times and there is no question of you being made to do anything against your will – you would be ‘shocked’ out of the hypnotic state straight away if any such action was suggested to you.
back to questions

Will I be aware of what is happening?

Yes, your awareness is heightened during hypnosis and in fact most people can remember everything that occurred during the session and you are able to converse easily within the hyponotic state.
back to questions

Are there any risks?

No, hypnotherapy is a completely non-invasive and non-addictive therapy. The state of hypnosis is a completely natural phenomenon.
back to questions

Can anyone be hypnotised?

Yes, except for the mentally ill and those under the influence of drink or drugs.
back to questions

Can medical problems be helped?

It is essential that you consult your GP with any problems that you feel may be medical before undertaking hypnotherapy.
back to questions

Do I need to tell my doctor?

Yes if you wish. Although not all doctors have a thorough knowledge of hypnotherapy, many do recommend it as a positive step forward.
back to questions

Will you inform anyone of my therapy?

Absolutely not, I operate under a strict code of confidentiality.
back to questions

Can you treat children and young adults?

Yes, I use a special technique in most cases. Please see the Children's Problems page for further information.
back to questions

Can ‘normal’ people go through hypnoanalysis?

Yes they can and it is highly recommended as there is no better therapy for you to gain a really good insight into yourself.
